Health & Safety at Camp
We take your child’s safety seriously—from medical support to outdoor adventure readiness. Our trained staff and medical team work together to ensure campers are cared for physically, emotionally, and spiritually throughout their time at Camp Wojtyla.

Camp’s safety practices are developed in partnership with local authorities and follow state guidelines. We focus on proactive risk assessment, smart decision-making, and preparing staff through classroom and real-world training.

All counselors are trained in wilderness first aid and emergency response. Our staff undergo extensive training in risk management, covering topics like lightning safety, wildlife, group dynamics, and high alpine terrain.

Camp Wojtyla’s medical team is led by a licensed physician and includes licensed nurses, aides, and full-time physical therapists. A medical tent is staffed each session to manage medications, health needs, and any unexpected illnesses or injuries.
Medical Records
To comply with state regulations and keep all campers safe and healthy, we require Camp-specific medical forms and documentation for each camper. These forms must be signed by a physician and submitted by the March 15 deadline. Substitutions are not allowed. Parents of registered campers can find all required documents and complete instructions in the Camp Wojtyla Medical Forms packet via the Registration Portal.
Illness & Injury
We follow strict guidelines for administering medications and managing illnesses at camp. Please review the details below carefully to help us ensure a safe environment for all campers.

Yes! We will administer your child’s prescription and non-prescription medications at Camp.
ALL medications and treatments require a completed Medication/Treatment Authorization Form signed by both a parent and the child’s medical provider.
Medications must be turned in to the Camp Nurse at check-in.

Camp follows Boulder County Public Health guidelines. Campers showing signs of communicable illness may not attend or remain at camp. Parents must review and sign off on our full communicable disease policy during registration.
Campers are monitored daily for any signs or symptoms of illness—both communicable and non-communicable—and are referred to our on-site medical team as needed. Staff are trained in wilderness first aid, a registered nurse and nurse’s aid is on duty, and a licensed Colorado physician oversees our medical protocols and is consulted as necessary. We seek outside medical care when appropriate.
Parents or guardians are contacted if a camper shows significant or persistent symptoms, or sustains a notable injury, so we can collaborate on the best course of care.
As a licensed residential camp, we operate under the guidelines of the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE) and Child Care Licensing, and we undergo annual inspections to ensure compliance.We strictly follow all regulations set forth by these state agencies—and in many cases, our health and safety protocols go above and beyond what is required.

Medications and Contagious Illness Policy
We follow strict guidelines for administering medications and managing illnesses at camp. Please review the details below carefully to help us ensure a safe environment for all campers.

All medications (including over-the-counter items like vitamins, EpiPens, and inhalers) require a completed Medication/Treatment Authorization Form signed by both a parent and the child’s medical provider.
Medications must be turned in to the Camp Nurse at check-in.
If your child starts a new medication after submitting the form, the form must be updated and re-signed or re-submitted.

Camp stocks commonly used OTC items (pain relievers, antihistamines, creams, etc.). These are only given with permission from your child’s healthcare provider on the authorization form.
