Food Service & Nutrition
Camp KITCHEN
Camp Wojtyla staff prepare all food for all Basecamp programs in an outdoor kitchen. We are approved by and follow the guidelines laid out by the Colorado Department of Health. Campers joining us for Alpine and Wilderness will dine at tables under the big tent, in their small groups, alongside others participating in the same program. For Outpost campers, food prepared in our outdoor kitchen is transported up to the Outpost for a more rugged dining experience. Backpackers will share their own unique experience— Instructors will teach them about food preparation in the Backcountry, and they’ll help prepare their own “camp” meals!
FOOD ALLERGIES
We are able to accommodate several common food allergies, sensitivities, and dietary preferences, including the following:
tree nut
peanut
dairy
seafood
gluten-free
dairy-free
vegetarian
We require prior notice of allergies to best meet each child’s needs. Families will be asked to provide complete information about their child’s dietary needs during registration. For some dietary restrictions, our administrative team may reach out to the family with questions and/or ask the family to provide foods specific to the child’s needs.
IMPORTANT NOTE REGARDING SEVERE/LIFE-THREATENING ALLERGIES
If your child has a severe and/or life-threatening allergy to a food not listed above, please complete our Dietary Needs Questionnaire, and someone from our administrative team will reach out to you.
Menus
Meals are prepared from a rotating menu that was created in collaboration with a certified nutritionist. Our goal is to provide delicious, healthy meals to our campers, befitting our active, high-altitude lifestyle. A highly trained kitchen manager organizes our menu rotation and determines the best way to accommodate any special dietary needs for each session. Parents of registered campers can view our menus in the Parent Information Center via their Registration Portal.
