The Patron Saints of Camp Wojtyla

At Camp Wojtyla, we believe, and say often, that “we are all striving for sainthood…”. Every summer, this journey becomes tangible as campers are welcomed into “teepees,” each named for a patron saint who guides and inspires them throughout the week. These remarkable saints are more than symbols, they are models of faith for daily life.

Who Are Our Camp Wojtyla Saints?

Here are the 16 saintly companions who walk alongside us in spirit and example:

  • John Paul the Great

  • Thérèse of Lisieux

  • Padre Pio

  • Mother Cabrini

  • Maria Goretti

  • Maximilian Kolbe

  • Kateri Tekakwitha

  • Francis Xavier

  • Our Lady of Czestochowa

  • Jean de Brébeuf

  • Francis of Assisi

  • Bernadette Soubirous

  • Pier Giorgio Frassati

  • Clare of Assisi

  • John the Baptist

Each saint brings a unique story and spiritual gift, whether it's radical compassion, sacrificial love, unwavering devotion to Christ, or missionary zeal.

Why Teepee Saints Make a Difference

Assigning each camper group a patron saint adds meaning and deepens the camp experience:

  • Belonging and identity: Campers feel a unique connection through their saint, inspiring courage, kindness, or perseverance.

  • Mentorship from Heaven: Even from the teepee, campers learn that they are not alone; saints accompany them in their struggles and joys.

  • Living role models: Saints lived out the Gospel in extraordinary ways; ways that continue to challenge and encourage us today.

We encourage you to learn more about these Heavenly teammates at Camp Wojtyla!
